Common Questions with Answers

Q: Will all information that I provide be considered private and confidential?

A: Absolutely. Any and all information you provide is considered confidential.

Q: How will being slow or delaying the time I take in making payments affect my credit?

A: If you are slow in making payments or 30, 60, 90 days behind, please understand that late payments are already on your credit report. Promise Consumer Credit Services does not report you to the credit reporting agencies; however, being in this program should improve your credit once we get your accounts on track again. Your accounts will be closed when on a debt management program.

Q: How do I know PCCS is paying my bills?

A: You will have full documentation of each account prior to making your first payment. Afterward we keep you fully informed. You will receive statements from us as well as your creditors, each month that your money is disbursed.

Q: How do I get approved?

A: Approval is based on your situation. Remember, to qualify you must be having difficulty meeting your bills. Also the type of creditors you have and your ability to make the monthly payment plays a part. We do require a debt to income form be completed before accepting a client on our FREE debt management program.

Q: Can I buy a house or a car while I am on the program?

A: The fact that you are on the program by itself should not have any effect on your ability to buy a home or a car; however without knowing what else is on your credit report the best thing to do is to find out what the bank's guidelines are for qualifying.

Q: Can I now get credit cards?

A: You will not be able to get new cards while you are on the program. Once your existing accounts are paid off, it is up to the creditor whether to reopen your account. Your payment history with us will certainly influence your future credit.

Q: Can I use my credit cards or are the accounts closed?

A: We suggest that you close the accounts yourself. If you don't the creditors will closed them. You cannot expect a creditor to lower or eliminate interest and keep the account active.

Q: What is the interest rate you charge?

A: Promise Consumer Credit Services does not charge you interest because this is not a loan. We work with your creditors to eliminate as much of the interest they are charging you as possible. Most people are paying between 17 and 26% interest on their accounts. In this program depending on the creditor some will eliminate interest many will reduce the interest. This will help you get out of dept sooner and save you thousands of dollars in interest payments.

Q: Can I pay off one account or all accounts?

A: Yes you can. If you decide to pay off any accounts please call our customer service department, they will contact your creditor and advise you of the best arrangement.

Q: Does Promise Consumer Credit Services Inc. pay off my creditors?

A: No! This is a counseling program not a loan. You will be making one monthly payment to us, which will simplify your life, and the monthly statements you will receive will show you the progress you are making with each account.

Q: Can I pay more than the minimum payment?

A: Absolutely, there is no penalty for paying your debts faster.
